In a bid to empower students and promote road safety, the district administration organized an enlightening seminar on the Punjab Chief Minister’s Bike scheme at Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) in Multan. The event, held on Wednesday, aimed to familiarize students with the benefits of the scheme and encourage their participation.

Supervised by Secretary RTA Mohsin Nisar, the seminar featured notable speakers including Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan and Secretary Transport Ahmad Javed Qazi, who addressed the attendees via video link.

The students received comprehensive information about the bike scheme, its advantages, and the application process. Additionally, motorcycle companies conducted a roadshow to showcase the available bike options, further engaging the audience.

Provincial Minister for Transport, Bilal Akbar Khan, emphasized the importance of the scheme, stating that the deadline for applications is April 29. He highlighted ongoing efforts to raise awareness through roadshows and branding activities.

Secretary Transport Ahmad Javed Qazi stressed the significance of providing bikes to students, citing its potential to reduce road accidents and contribute to environmental improvement. By encouraging biking as a mode of transportation, the scheme aims to promote sustainability and ease commuting for students.

Under the scheme, a total of 20,000 motorbikes will be provided to students across the province through balloting draw. Of these, 19,000 will be petrol bikes, while 1,000 will be E-bikes, reflecting a commitment to eco-friendly transportation options.

The initiative not only facilitates students in accessing affordable transportation but also promotes responsibility and independence among the youth. By encouraging active participation, the Punjab CM Bike Scheme aims to create a safer and more sustainable environment for all.
