Great news for students in Punjab! The provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is gearing up to introduce an exciting initiative: electric bikes for students. This innovative scheme aims to revolutionize transportation for students across the province, making it more accessible and affordable.

During a recent meeting in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif gave her approval for this groundbreaking initiative, highlighting its significance for the community. The plan, which also saw the participation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the lives of its citizens.

The primary focus of the scheme is to improve transportation for students, especially those facing challenges in commuting to educational institutions. Alongside electric bikes, the discussion also included plans for hybrid bus services tailored for students, further expanding transportation options.

Installment Details & Plan

The government aims to distribute a total of 20,000 bikes, with 1,000 being electric bikes and 19,000 petrol bikes. What’s remarkable is that students will benefit from interest-free loans, easing the financial burden of transportation.

To facilitate students, the Punjab government has partnered with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for bike distribution. The monthly installment for electric bikes is set at Rs. 10,000, while for petrol bikes, it’s Rs. 5,000, ensuring affordability for students from diverse backgrounds.

In a bid to ensure transparency and fairness, the government plans to conduct a draw in May for bike distribution. Quotas have also been established, with urban areas seeing an equal split between male and female students, while rural areas allocate 70% of the quota to male students and 30% to female students.

Details of Scheme:

Under the E-Bikes scheme, announced by CM Maryam Nawaz, 20,000 electric bikes will be provided to students on easy installments and at a minimum interest rate. The Bank of Punjab will extend soft loans to students for this purpose.

How to Apply for E-Bike:

The online application process for the Electric Bike scheme will commence in the upcoming months. Schools and college students can avail themselves of the bike through easy installments with minimal interest rates.

Initially, the scheme will be rolled out in major cities like Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, with plans for expansion to smaller cities in Punjab. Separate quotas for male and female students will ensure equal opportunities, with a meticulous approval process in place to ensure efficiency.

Interested candidates can submit their applications for approval on the government platform starting May this year, marking the beginning of a transformative journey towards accessible and sustainable transportation for students across Punjab.
