Share

In a significant move to promote women’s mobility and empowerment, the Sindh government has introduced the Pink EV Scooty Scheme. Spearheaded by the Transport and Mass Transit Department, the initiative aims to provide free electric scooters to female students and working women across the province.

The scheme is designed to offer a safe, sustainable, and independent mode of transport, particularly benefiting women who face daily commuting challenges. Alongside the scooters, the program includes road safety training, vehicle registration, helmets, and support for EV charging.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must:

• Be a permanent resident of Sindh

• Hold a valid motorcycle or car driving license

• Be a student or an employed woman

• Agree to retain the scooty for at least 7 years (resale or subletting is not permitted)

• Pass a road safety skill test if shortlisted

Selection Process

Recipients will be selected through a transparent ballot draw conducted in the presence of media representatives and a monitoring committee comprising officials and journalists. This process ensures fairness and transparency in the distribution.

Application Process

Interested applicants must apply online via the Sindh Mass Transit Authority’s official website. To apply:

1. Visit the website: https://smta.sindh.gov.pk/

2. Navigate to “Projects” and select “EV Scooty Ballot Form”

3. Upload required documents: CNIC, domicile, PRC, driving license, and student or employee ID

This forward-looking scheme marks a bold step by the Sindh government to enhance women’s participation in public life by improving their access to safe and reliable transportation.
