Pakistan’s auto industry is steadily moving toward electrification, and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) are leading the charge. Unlike regular hybrids, PHEV cars can be charged externally and offer a much longer all-electric range, making them ideal for city commutes as well as long-distance travel. In the past few years, a few PHEVs have officially been introduced to the market, marking significant steps toward cleaner mobility.
Current PHEVs Available in Pakistan
MG HS PHEV

MG Motors was among the first brands to bring a plug-in hybrid SUV to Pakistan. Initially offered as a CBU import, the MG HS PHEV gained popularity for blending performance with efficiency. In October 2024, MG began local assembly (CKD) of the HS PHEV, making it more accessible.

Although these three models currently lead the segment, more PHEV cars are expected soon. Toyota has already launched the Corolla Cross Hybrid (an HEV), while Sazgar plans to introduce the Tank-500 hi4-T PHEV SUV and Cannon Alpha hi4-T PHEV pickup by early 2026. These upcoming vehicles signal a market opening up for a wider range of eco-friendly options.
