The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced new petroleum prices in Pakistan, effective March 1, 2025. The adjustments reflect fluctuations in the global oil market while maintaining regulated pricing for consumers.

Revised Fuel Prices March 2025

Impact of Price Reductions

Relief for Transport & Agriculture: The most significant reduction was observed in High-Speed Diesel (HSD), which saw a drop of Rs. 5.31 per liter. This is expected to benefit the transport and agriculture sectors, where diesel consumption is high. Lower diesel costs may also stabilize freight charges and public transport fares.

Slight Reduction for Commuters: MS Petrol prices fell marginally by Rs. 0.50 per liter. While this decrease is unlikely to make a major impact on daily commuting costs, it offers some relief to private vehicle owners.

Households & Small Industries Benefit: Superior Kerosene Oil saw a Rs. 3.53 per liter reduction, which will help households and small businesses that rely on it for heating and lighting.

Industrial Relief: Light Diesel Oil (LDO) dropped by Rs. 2.47 per liter, offering slight relief to industries that use it as a low-cost fuel alternative.

Government Taxation & Future Outlook

Despite these reductions, the government continues to collect Rs. 76 per liter in taxes on petrol and diesel. Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed every 15 days, based on international oil price trends, currency exchange rates, and taxation policies. Consumers should expect further adjustments as global fuel prices fluctuate.

The latest price cut aims to ease financial pressure on various sectors while keeping domestic fuel prices aligned with global market trends.
