The government has announced a fresh reduction in petroleum prices, offering much-needed relief to consumers as the country enters December. According to the latest price update, the federal government has slashed petrol and diesel rates for the next fortnight, effective December 1, 2025.
Under the new pricing schedule, petrol has become cheaper by Rs2 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs4.79 per litre. These adjustments come as part of the government’s regular review of international oil prices and currency movement.
As a result, the new petrol price is Rs263.02 per litre, whereas diesel will now retail at Rs275.42 per litre. The revision aims to ease inflationary pressures and provide short-term financial relief to transporters, businesses, and daily commuters.
The price cuts are significant for sectors heavily dependent on diesel, including goods transport and agriculture, where fuel costs directly influence production and transportation expenses. Meanwhile, the moderate reduction in petrol prices is expected to ease the burden on private motorists and ride-hailing services.
These rates will remain in effect for the next 15 days, after which another review will determine fuel prices for the second half of December 2025.
