The government of Pakistan has conducted its first-ever electronic balloting for electric two- and three-wheelers under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme, marking a key milestone in the country’s transition toward clean and affordable transportation.
Officials hailed the move as a landmark achievement that aligns with the government’s broader strategy to promote green mobility, reduce carbon emissions, and lower fuel dependency.
Subsidies for Two- and Three-Wheelers
Under the PAVE Scheme, successful applicants will receive financial subsidies to make electric vehicles more affordable:
- Electric two-wheelers:
- Rs. 50,000 subsidy on bank-leased purchases
- Rs. 80,000 subsidy on self-financed purchases
- Electric three-wheelers:
- Rs. 200,000 subsidy on bank-leased purchases
- Rs. 400,000 subsidy on self-financed purchases
These incentives are designed to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles while providing relief to buyers amid rising fuel costs.
Massive Response and Allotments
According to official figures, a total of 269,161 applications were submitted during the initial phase. Out of these, 40,000 applicants were declared successful in the e-balloting process. The allotments included 40,000 electric two-wheelers and 1,000 electric three-wheelers.
Applicants can check their ballot results using their CNIC number or application ID on the official PAVE website:- https://pave.gov.pk/home
Delivery and After-Sales Support
The government has also placed responsibility on original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure timely vehicle delivery, warranty coverage, and after-sales service. This ensures that buyers not only receive their vehicles promptly but also benefit from long-term support, making the adoption of EVs more reliable.
A Step Toward Sustainable Mobility
The successful execution of the first e-balloting under the PAVE Scheme highlights Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable transport solutions. By subsidizing EV purchases and ensuring transparent allotment through digital draws, the government aims to position electric two- and three-wheelers as a mainstream choice for the public.
This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to reducing urban pollution, lowering fuel imports, and supporting Pakistan’s climate goals.
