Pakistan Railways to Introduce Trains That Can Run at Speed of up to 160 km/h

Pakistan Railways is taking a significant leap toward transforming the country’s transport infrastructure with the introduction of high-speed, air-conditioned Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) trains. The new DMU trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h, will primarily operate on the Lahore–Lalamusa–Rawalpindi route. This initiative is being executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, reflecting a collaborative approach between the government and private sector. Each DMU train will have a seating capacity of 380 passengers, making them an ideal solution for growing commuter demand.
