Pakistan Railways has announced the operation of four special trains ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic across the country. The initiative aims to provide additional travel options for thousands of people planning to return to their hometowns during the festive holiday period.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways confirmed that the special train services will run between major cities to ease travel congestion and reduce pressure on regular train operations during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
Schedule of Eid Special Trains
According to the railway administration, the first special train will depart from Lahore for Karachi on March 16. The train will pass through several cities including Okara, Sahiwal, and Khanewal before reaching its final destination.
The second special train is scheduled to leave Quetta for Rawalpindi on March 17. Along the way, it will stop at important railway stations including Sukkur, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, and Lahore.
On the same day, a third special train will operate from Karachi to Peshawar, connecting southern and northern regions of the country and providing additional capacity for long-distance travelers.
The fourth and final special train will depart from Karachi for Lahore on March 18, offering another travel option for passengers heading to Punjab during the Eid holidays.
Managing the Eid Travel Rush
Every year, the days leading up to Eid witness a significant increase in intercity travel as people move across the country to celebrate the festival with family and friends. To handle this surge, Pakistan Railways regularly introduces additional trains, special coaches, and operational adjustments.
Officials say these special services are designed to improve passenger convenience, reduce overcrowding on regular trains, and ensure smoother travel during the busy holiday period.
The railway administration has also advised passengers to book tickets early to avoid last-minute difficulties, as demand for seats typically rises sharply in the final days before Eid.
With millions of Pakistanis expected to travel during the holiday season, the additional services are expected to play an important role in easing transportation pressures and ensuring that travelers reach their destinations safely and comfortably.
