In a sudden and sweeping move, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has halted all flight operations at several of the country’s major airports, including those in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. The suspension was announced through an official Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and is in effect until further notice.

The immediate impact of this decision is already being felt. A number of incoming international flights to Lahore from cities such as Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Sharjah, and Madinah have been diverted to Karachi, causing significant disruptions for passengers.

Complete Airport Evacuations and Delays

As part of heightened security protocols, Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore and Sialkot Airport have been completely evacuated. Likewise, Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport has paused all flight activities. Passengers inside terminal buildings have been asked to exit, and flights have been either cancelled or delayed.

The PAA has not disclosed a specific reason for the sudden closures, though early indications point to heightened security concerns. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and updates are expected as circumstances evolve.

What Passengers Need to Know?

  • Flight Status: All domestic and international flights at the affected airports are temporarily suspended.
  • Alternative Travel Plans: Travelers should contact their airlines directly for the latest information regarding delays, cancellations, or rebookings.
  • Stay Updated: Official channels and airline websites are the most reliable sources of information during this disruption.
  • Avoid Rumors: Authorities urge the public to stay calm and refrain from spreading misinformation on social media.

This is a developing story, and more details are expected in the coming hours. For now, passengers are advised to remain patient and prioritize safety over travel convenience.
