In a move to tackle Islamabad’s long-standing parking challenges, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed a new parking facility at the Pak Secretariat, one of the city’s busiest government complexes. The facility, which spans 133,729 square feet, can accommodate over 1,000 vehicles, offering much-needed relief to government employees and visitors alike.

The inauguration was led by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who inspected the project on Thursday. He emphasized that the initiative is part of CDA’s broader strategy to modernize Islamabad’s infrastructure and provide citizens with greater convenience.

Addressing Parking and Traffic Woes

The Pak Secretariat, home to several federal ministries, has long faced congestion issues due to insufficient parking. According to CDA officials, the new project is designed not only to ease traffic congestion but also to save time and energy for daily commuters.

“Solving fundamental issues like parking will not only reduce traffic congestion but also save citizens’ time and energy,” Randhawa remarked during the inspection, while appreciating the Engineering Wing and project teams for their efforts.

Features of the New Parking Facility

The CDA has laid special emphasis on ensuring that the facility is user-friendly and secure. Randhawa directed staff to:

  • Ensure vehicles are parked in designated areas and under sheds.
  • Install signboards for guidance.
  • Maintain round-the-clock security.
  • Provide adequate lighting and cleanliness.

Additionally, he instructed the expansion and activation of the parking lot near Jamia Mosque within the Secretariat and announced plans for another new facility nearby.

Future Parking Projects Across Islamabad

The CDA chairman further revealed that more modern parking facilities are in the pipeline to meet the growing demands of Islamabad’s population and increasing traffic. He was accompanied by Member Administration and Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon during the visit.

The launch of the Pak Secretariat Islamabad parking facility marks a significant milestone in improving traffic management and easing daily commuting challenges for government employees and visitors. With more projects planned, the CDA’s focus on modern, well-managed parking solutions reflects its commitment to building a more efficient and accessible capital city.
