In view of processions and large gatherings during Ashura, authorities have partially suspended metro and bus services in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Karachi to ensure public safety and maintain security arrangements.

In Rawalpindi, the Metro Bus service operating between Saddar Station and Faizabad has been suspended as a security precaution. The decision was taken on the instructions of the Rawalpindi district administration to avoid any security risks during Muharram processions.

However, the Metro Bus service remains operational in Islamabad on the stretch between IJP Road and the Pak Secretariat, providing continued connectivity for commuters traveling within the capital.

Meanwhile, the Blue and Green Line Metro Bus services in Islamabad have been suspended for the past two days due to similar security concerns during the holy month of Muharram, when processions and gatherings lead to large crowds and road closures.

Karachi Bus Services Also Halted for Muharram

In Karachi, authorities have also announced the suspension of major public transport services during Ashura. Both the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and the Peoples Bus Service have been halted from the 8th to the 10th of Muharram in response to heightened security alerts issued by law enforcement agencies.

Officials emphasized that these precautionary measures aim to safeguard citizens and ensure smooth management of religious gatherings across major cities.

Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly, use alternative routes where possible, and stay updated through official transport authority channels for the latest information on service resumption.
