Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of a three-day free electric bus service to facilitate participants attending the annual Raiwind congregation, one of the largest religious gatherings in Pakistan.
The decision was made during a meeting held on Monday with members of the central Shura of Tablighi Jamaat, including Dr. Nadeem Ashraf, Maulana Amjad Farooq, Maulana Muhammad Ameer, Imtiaz Ahmad Ghani, and Arshad.
The Chief Minister directed that the electric bus service will operate from the Lahore Railway Station and Allama Iqbal International Airport to Raiwind, ensuring easy and sustainable transport access for attendees during the event.
Infrastructure, Cleanliness, and Administrative Measures Ordered
Maryam Nawaz also instructed senior administrative officials — including the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) — to personally visit Raiwind and oversee arrangements on the ground.
She ordered road patchwork and immediate reconstruction of three key routes leading to the congregation site, ensuring smooth and safe travel for pilgrims. Additionally, she launched a special cleanliness and beautification drive, which includes sprinkling rosewater on roads from November 1 until the end of the congregation.
These directives are part of a broader initiative to enhance public facilities and ensure a well-organized environment for attendees.
Delegation Praises CM’s Initiatives and Offers Prayers
The Tablighi Jamaat delegation praised the Chief Minister’s commitment to public service, appreciating her proactive steps to support the congregation’s participants. They also offered special prayers for her continued success and the prosperity of Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz, in turn, commended the social and religious contributions of the Raiwind Markaz and requested the delegation to pray for national peace, security, and relief for flood victims.
A Step Toward Inclusive and Sustainable Mobility
The introduction of the free electric bus service highlights the Punjab government’s focus on inclusive, environment-friendly, and people-centered policies under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership. The initiative not only promotes sustainable public transport but also underscores the administration’s respect for religious gatherings and its commitment to public welfare.
