The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a crucial travel advisory for all motorists planning to travel on the M-2 Motorway from Lahore to Islamabad. According to the announcement, the Bhera Service Area will remain closed for three days — from April 26 to April 28 — due to essential repair and maintenance work.

Travelers are strongly advised to plan their journeys carefully and make necessary fuel, food, and rest stops at alternative service areas either before or after Bhera. The NHMP has also urged all drivers to adhere strictly to posted instructions and road safety guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe journey during this period.

Alternative Service Areas to Consider

With the Bhera Service Area temporarily unavailable, motorists should consider stopping at other service areas such as Sukheki, Sial, or Kalar Kahar, depending on their route and travel timing. Making early preparations can help avoid unnecessary delays and inconvenience on this busy stretch of motorway.

New Regulations for Vehicles on Motorways

In related news, Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, recently announced stricter regulations for vehicles operating on Pakistan’s motorways. As per the new directive:

  • Vehicles older than 20 years will no longer be permitted to operate on the country’s motorways.
  • Commercial drivers will be required to undergo compulsory training programs.
  • Fitness certificates for all commercial vehicles must be obtained within the next three months to ensure compliance.

These measures are part of a broader effort to enhance road safety, reduce accidents, and improve the overall condition of vehicles traveling on national highways.

Plan Ahead for a Safe Journey

Motorists using the M-2 Motorway are encouraged to stay updated on the latest travel advisories and prepare accordingly to minimize disruption. Following NHMP guidelines and adhering to the new vehicle regulations will contribute to safer and more efficient travel experiences across Pakistan’s road network.

For further updates, travelers can visit the official NHMP website or follow their social media channels.
