By Lucid Motors has officially revealed the names of its first midsize electric SUVs, called Cosmos and Earth. The announcement came during the company’s Investor Day 2026 event in New York. These vehicles mark an important step in Lucid’s plan to reach a broader electric vehicle market.
The new models will sit below the Air sedan and Gravity SUV in Lucid’s lineup. Unlike the company’s current luxury models, the upcoming crossovers will target a wider audience. Lucid estimates a starting price of about $50,000.
This pricing places the vehicles directly in competition with popular electric SUVs such as the Tesla Model Y. The midsize crossover segment remains one of the fastest growing categories in the global EV market.
Lucid plans to begin production of the Cosmos by the end of this year. Manufacturing will start at the company’s facility in Saudi Arabia. That factory will mainly supply vehicles to the Middle East, Europe, and other global markets.
However, some early units from the Saudi plant will also ship to North America. Within six to twelve months after production begins, Lucid expects to start local manufacturing in the United States. The company plans to build the vehicles at its Arizona facility.
The Earth crossover will launch about a year after Cosmos production begins. Lucid also confirmed that a third model based on the same platform is under development. The company has not revealed the name of that vehicle yet.
New Platform and Technology Features
Both crossovers will use Lucid’s new midsize electric vehicle platform. The architecture is designed to support several future mass market vehicles.
The platform includes an advanced 800 volt battery system. It also features a next generation centralized electrical architecture. This setup allows support for bidirectional charging.
Lucid will also introduce a new electric drive unit called Atlas. According to the company, the new motor design offers major efficiency improvements.
Key improvements include:
- 23 percent reduction in motor weight
- 30 percent fewer components than previous drive units
- improved efficiency for longer driving range
Lucid has not confirmed final range figures yet. However, engineers shared an example during the presentation. They said a battery pack of about 69 kilowatt hours could deliver roughly 300 miles of range.
Aerodynamic design plays a key role in achieving that efficiency. The vehicles target a drag coefficient of around 0.22. Lower drag helps extend driving range even with a smaller battery.
The two crossovers will also feature traditional mechanical door handles. Many modern EVs use powered electronic handles instead. Lucid believes conventional handles improve reliability and simplify daily use.
Inside the cabin, Lucid plans a new ultra wide display across the dashboard. The system replaces the center touchscreen currently used in the Air sedan and Gravity SUV.
The display will divide into four information zones. These sections will show navigation, energy data, entertainment, and other vehicle information.
Lucid will also introduce an artificial intelligence powered voice assistant. The system aims to allow more natural interaction between the driver and the vehicle.

According to the company, the Cosmos will focus on urban driving and performance. The Earth model will target drivers who want more versatility for suburban and mixed road use.
By entering the midsize electric SUV segment, Lucid hopes to compete with established EV brands. The success of Cosmos and Earth could play a major role in the company’s expansion into the broader electric vehicle market.
