In a move to combat worsening air pollution and seasonal smog, the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department of Punjab has officially activated multiple Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths and authorized workshops across Lahore. The initiative aims to monitor and regulate vehicular emissions, which are among the leading contributors to deteriorating air quality in the city.
According to officials, vehicle owners can visit any ETS booth from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a scheduled break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The testing program is designed to ensure that vehicles comply with the environmental emission standards, especially during peak smog season, when air quality declines drastically across Lahore and its suburban areas.
Authorities emphasized that timely compliance by motorists will significantly contribute to reducing harmful pollutants, thereby supporting public health initiatives and environmental safety measures.
