The Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has successfully completed the auction of 11 high-demand vehicle registration number plates in Peshawar, generating a substantial Rs. 5.81 crore in total revenue. The auction highlights the growing demand for personalized and symbolic vehicle number plates among affluent buyers in the province.
The auction attracted strong competition, with several plates linked to prominent regional names and identities commanding exceptionally high bids. The highest bid of Rs. 1.5 crore was recorded for the number plate Wazir-1, making it the most expensive plate of the auction.

Following closely, Afridi-1 was sold for Rs. 1.40 crore (Rs. 1 crore 40 lakh), while Khan-1 fetched Rs. 1.11 crore. Another highly sought-after plate, Peshawar-1, was auctioned for Rs. 1 crore, reflecting strong interest in plates associated with major cities.

Plates Excluded from the Auction
According to officials, two highly anticipated plates associated with former Prime Minister Imran Khan — “Imran Khan-1” and “Imran Khan-804” — were not included in this auction round. Their exclusion drew public attention, as such plates are widely expected to command premium bids whenever offered.
Revenue Generation and Public Interest
Officials from the Excise and Taxation Department stated that auctions of premium number plates have become an effective method of non-tax revenue generation for the province. The funds raised contribute to public welfare and infrastructure development while meeting public demand for exclusive vehicle registrations.
The strong response to this auction reflects a broader trend in Pakistan where personalized vehicle plates are increasingly viewed as status symbols, particularly in major urban centers.
With rising interest and competitive bidding, future auctions by the KP Excise Department are expected to attract even higher revenues.
