By The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Excise and Taxation Department has announced an auction of exclusive special vehicle number plates, set to take place on 27 January in Peshawar. The initiative aims to offer unique and prestigious registration plates while promoting modernization and innovation within the province’s public service systems.
According to officials, the special number plates will feature names of prominent tribes, well-known families, and key regions of KP, making them highly desirable among collectors, business leaders, and individuals seeking personalized vehicle registration options.
Tribal and Family Name Number Plates
The auction will include number plates bearing tribal names such as Wazir 1, Mehsud 1, Khattak 1, and Mohmand 1, reflecting KP’s rich tribal heritage. In addition, plates named after prominent families and clans will also be available, including Khan 1, Gandapur 1, Durrani 1, Kundi 1, Swati 1, Arbab 1, Khalil 1, Afridi 1, and Yousafzai 1.
These exclusive registrations are expected to attract strong interest, particularly from individuals who value cultural identity, social prestige, and uniqueness in vehicle ownership.
Regional Name Plates Also Included
Alongside tribal and family names, the KP Excise Department will also auction special number plates named after regions such as Malakand, Abbottabad, Kohat, and Bannu. These region-based plates are likely to appeal to residents and expatriates who wish to showcase their regional pride through personalized vehicle registration.
Auction Details and Bidding Requirements
The department has set a base bidding price of Rs. 1 million for each special number plate. Interested participants must submit a bid security of Rs. 100,000 to qualify for the auction process.
Excise officials have clarified that the bid security will be forfeited if the successful bidder fails to pay the remaining amount within the specified timeframe. This condition has been introduced to ensure transparency and seriousness among participants.
Purpose of the Initiative
According to the Excise Department, the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize vehicle registration systems and introduce advanced, value-driven services for the public. Revenue generated through the auction will also support government initiatives and administrative improvements within the province.
Officials believe that offering distinctive and exclusive number plates not only enhances personalization options for vehicle owners but also aligns KP with international practices where premium registrations contribute to public revenue.
