Karachi Traffic Police Confirms Normal Traffic Flow Amid False Social Media Protest Reports

Following a series of protest calls on social media allegedly linked to Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the Karachi Traffic Police issued an official statement confirming that all major roads, markets, and commercial areas remain open and that traffic is flowing normally across the city.

The update came just hours after Punjab witnessed unrest and road closures, prompting speculation that similar demonstrations might occur in Karachi. However, authorities clarified that no citywide protest activity is taking place and urged the public to ignore unverified reports circulating online.

Official Traffic Police Statement

According to the Traffic Police Karachi, there is no protest or road closure anywhere in the metropolis, and all major routes continue to function as usual. The statement specified that minor disruptions were briefly observed near Nala Stop, Kulsoom Bus Stop, and Maulana Shaukat Ali Khan Road, but traffic in those areas has since normalized.

Officials confirmed that commercial activity remains unaffected, and shops and markets are open throughout the city, including major business hubs like Saddar, Tariq Road, and Clifton.

“There is no protest by any group. Traffic and business activities are continuing as normal across all major districts,” the statement emphasized.

Public Advisory and Precautionary Measures

The Traffic Police spokesperson urged citizens not to believe or spread rumors regarding road closures or demonstrations. Residents are advised to verify information through official sources, including:

  • Karachi Traffic Police Helpline: 1915
  • Official Radio Channel: FM 88.6 (for real-time traffic updates)

In addition, the Karachi Police confirmed that no demonstrations or sit-ins are currently taking place in any district. A brief protest earlier near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi was peacefully dispersed, and traffic flow has since been restored.

Section 144 Imposed Citywide

Authorities reminded the public that Section 144 remains in effect across Sindh, prohibiting all public gatherings, rallies, and sit-ins. The Sindh government imposed the ban for one month, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public order. No group or individual has been granted permission to hold protests during this period.

Calm Prevails Across Karachi

Despite early panic triggered by social media reports, the situation across Karachi remains calm and stable. Law enforcement agencies, including police and Rangers, are deployed at key locations to monitor security and ensure uninterrupted city operations.

Citizens are encouraged to remain calm, rely only on verified updates from Karachi Traffic Police, and avoid spreading misinformation that could cause unnecessary public concern.
