Islamabad Restores Normal Traffic as Faizabad Flyover Reopens

Normal traffic flow has been restored across Islamabad after the removal of containers and barriers from the Faizabad Flyover, bringing much-needed relief to commuters. The reopening of this critical link between Faizabad and the Expressway marks the end of several days of traffic disruptions caused by a protest in the capital.

According to a spokesperson for Islamabad Police, all major routes within the city are now open, and the situation is being continuously monitored to ensure smooth vehicular movement. The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) also issued an official road advisory, confirming that traffic has been fully restored on all 43 routes across the capital.

Motorways Reopened for All Traffic

The advisory further stated that Motorways M-1 and M-2 have been reopened for all types of vehicles, allowing citizens to travel freely within Islamabad and to other cities without detours or diversions. The resumption of normal traffic has significantly reduced congestion in key areas such as Faizabad, I-8, and Zero Point, improving mobility for thousands of daily commuters.

Protest Disruptions and Public Relief

The traffic restrictions had been imposed earlier due to a protest by a religious group, during which several main arteries were blocked with containers and barbed wire. These closures had caused severe inconvenience to residents of the twin cities—Islamabad and Rawalpindi—with long queues and delays reported on major roads.

Now, with all routes reopened, citizens have expressed relief and appreciation for the swift action of law enforcement agencies. The Islamabad Traffic Police have urged the public to follow traffic regulations and stay updated through official advisories for real-time traffic conditions.

Ensuring Smooth Traffic Flow

Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining order and safety on the roads, ensuring uninterrupted mobility throughout the capital. The removal of barriers not only restores convenience but also reinforces the city’s capacity to respond swiftly to civic disruptions, safeguarding both public movement and urban functionality.
