The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a temporary traffic diversion plan for Shaheen Chowk on Margalla Road, where ongoing construction work is affecting regular traffic flow. The diversion plan will be implemented daily from 4 pm to 7 pm, covering the city’s peak commuting hours to minimize congestion and maintain smoother movement across the capital.

According to an ITP spokesperson, the department has mapped out several alternative routes for motorists. Vehicles coming from E-11 and DCI Road are advised to use the F-10 Service Road via Jinnah Avenue. Meanwhile, drivers traveling from Ninth Avenue toward Margalla Road should turn right from F-9 Park Gate 5 and continue through F-8 Park Road to reach their destinations.

For commuters heading from Margalla Road to F-10, two detour options are available:

  • Take a left turn from Faisal Chowk to access Jinnah Avenue, or
  • Use PN Zafar Chowk (F-8, near Ali Medical Center) to reach Jinnah Avenue or Ninth Avenue.

The spokesperson emphasized that ITP officers have been deployed at critical points to manage traffic flow and assist motorists. “We regret any inconvenience caused during this period,” he said, while urging citizens to contact Pucar-15 or 1915 for real-time traffic updates or emergencies.

This initiative reflects ITP’s commitment to ensuring safe, orderly, and efficient traffic management amid ongoing infrastructure improvements. The department continues to remind commuters to follow traffic rules, remain patient during diversions, and plan routes accordingly to avoid delays.
