The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has launched a special driving license campaign to facilitate government employees. The campaign, running from September 17 to September 26, 2025, aims to help employees obtain valid licenses through both traffic police offices and mobile facilitation vans.

Why the Campaign Was Launched?

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun revealed that the decision followed operations against illegal parking at Secretariat Blocks, where authorities found that many employees were driving vehicles and motorcycles without licenses. He stressed that government workers must set an example by following the law themselves before rules are enforced on the general public.

Government Employees Raise Concerns

While the initiative is designed to ease the process, some employees have raised concerns. Federal worker Hassan Mahmood questioned whether thousands of employees could realistically obtain licenses in just nine days. Another employee, Nadeem, reported long queues and waiting times at traffic offices, doubting the feasibility of the target.

Deadline and Strict Action After September 26

The ITP has directed all its resources to prioritize license issuance during the campaign. However, the CTO has made it clear that no exceptions will be allowed after September 26. Any government employee found driving without a valid license beyond the deadline will face strict legal consequences.

The Islamabad Traffic Police driving license campaign underscores the importance of road safety and legal compliance. By urging public servants to regularize their licenses, the ITP is reinforcing accountability and ensuring safer roads for everyone.
