Islamabad Traffic Advisory: Major Roads to Remain Closed for 6 Hours Today

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have issued a traffic advisory announcing the temporary closure and diversion of several major roads in the federal capital for a period of six hours today. The advisory has been issued to facilitate traffic management arrangements and ensure public safety during the specified time.

According to the official statement, multiple roads in Islamabad will remain affected from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this period, Police Lines Road and Faisal Avenue will be partially closed, and traffic will be redirected to alternative routes to minimize congestion.

In addition, traffic diversions will be implemented on Srinagar Highway and Islamabad Express Highway, two of the city’s busiest arteries. These measures aim to maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent major bottlenecks during peak daytime hours.

To reduce inconvenience for commuters, the traffic police have recommended using Margalla Road, Club Road, and nearby service roads as alternative routes. Motorists traveling through central sectors of Islamabad are strongly advised to follow diversion signs and instructions from on-duty traffic personnel.

The Islamabad Traffic Police have also urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and leave their homes at least 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual to avoid delays. Officials emphasized that proper planning can significantly reduce stress and congestion during the advisory period.

To ensure smooth traffic operations, traffic police personnel will be deployed at key intersections and sensitive points across the city. Their role will include guiding motorists, managing traffic flow, and responding to emergencies if required.

For real-time updates and assistance, citizens can contact the traffic helpline numbers 1915 or 15, which will remain operational throughout the advisory period. The traffic police have also appealed to the public to cooperate fully with authorities, follow traffic instructions, and remain patient while commuting.

The Islamabad Traffic Police reiterated that such temporary measures are taken in the interest of public safety and efficient traffic management. Commuters are encouraged to stay informed, use recommended routes, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours to ensure a smooth commute across the city.
