Islamabad Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of Basant Celebrations

Islamabad Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for today, warning commuters of possible road diversions and heavy congestion due to Basant celebrations across the federal capital. Authorities have urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delays during peak hours.

According to the advisory, traffic diversions will remain in effect from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM on several major roads, including the Islamabad Expressway, Murree Road, and Club Road. The measures are being implemented to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the festive rush.

Diversions and Alternate Routes for Rawalpindi–Islamabad Traffic

Motorists traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad have been advised to use Rawal Road, Ninth Avenue, Faqir Appi Road, and Srinagar Highway to bypass congested areas. Meanwhile, commuters heading from Islamabad to Rawalpindi should prefer Zero Point and Srinagar Highway via Ninth Avenue for smoother movement.

Traffic officials say these alternate routes have been selected to minimize pressure on major arteries expected to face congestion during the celebrations.

Guidance for Murree, Bara Kahu, and Surrounding Areas

Travelers coming from Murree and Bara Kahu toward Islamabad are recommended to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Park Road, and Lehtrar Road. Similarly, commuters traveling from Serena and Bahara Kahu toward Rawalpindi should opt for Park Road and Khanna routes to avoid traffic bottlenecks.

Islamabad Traffic Police officers will be deployed at key intersections and diversion points to assist commuters and manage traffic efficiently throughout the advisory period.

Traffic Police Helpline and Public Advisory

Citizens have been encouraged to stay informed through official channels. For real-time traffic updates and guidance, commuters can contact the Traffic Helpline 1915 or Pukar 15. Authorities have also urged drivers to strictly follow traffic instructions, remain patient, and allow extra travel time.

Officials emphasized that public cooperation is essential to maintaining smooth traffic flow and ensuring safety during Basant celebrations. Drivers are advised to stay cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours, and comply with traffic regulations to prevent congestion and accidents.
