Islamabad Traffic Police Issues Traffic Advisory for Red Zone Entry on March 2

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has released an important traffic advisory on March 2 regarding access to the Red Zone in Islamabad. According to the official notification, entry into the Red Zone will remain open only through specific routes, while all other access points will be temporarily closed to ensure security and smooth traffic management.

Designated Entry Points to the Red Zone

As per ITP’s advisory, citizens can enter the Red Zone exclusively via:

  • Margalla Road
  • Marriott Hotel route

All other roads leading toward the Red Zone will remain closed until further notice. Authorities have urged commuters to strictly follow the prescribed routes to avoid inconvenience and traffic congestion.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

The traffic plan also provides clear directions for drivers approaching from different areas:

  • From Club Road: Motorists are advised to use Kashmir Chowk, then proceed via Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road to reach the Red Zone.
  • From Barakahu: Travelers coming from Barakahu should enter through Kashmir Chowk and follow Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road.

These alternative routes are intended to streamline vehicle flow and reduce bottlenecks in the federal capital’s high-security zone.

Helplines & Live Traffic Updates

Citizens seeking real-time traffic updates or assistance can contact:

  • Emergency Helpline: 15
  • Traffic Helpline: 1915

Live traffic information is also being broadcast on ITP FM 92.4, allowing commuters to stay informed about road conditions and diversions.

Public Cooperation Requested

The Islamabad Traffic Police has urged residents and visitors to cooperate with traffic officials and plan their journeys accordingly. Given the importance of the Red Zone, which houses key government institutions and diplomatic offices, such temporary restrictions are often implemented to ensure public safety and maintain order.

Motorists are encouraged to leave early, follow traffic signage, and avoid unnecessary travel to restricted areas during advisory periods.
