The Islamabad Traffic Police has finalized an extensive Islamabad Ramadan traffic plan aimed at maintaining smooth vehicular movement across the federal capital during the holy month. With traffic volumes expected to surge before Sehri, Iftar, and Taraweeh, authorities have deployed more than 450 officers and personnel at key points throughout the city.
Deployment at Key Locations
According to officials, special traffic arrangements will be implemented around:
- Mosques and imambargahs
- Major markets and commercial centers
- Ramadan Sahulat Bazaars
- Sunday and weekly bazaars
Traffic flow typically intensifies during Ramadan due to adjusted office timings, increased shopping activity, and large congregations for prayers. To address this, additional personnel will be deployed during peak hours to prevent bottlenecks and ensure uninterrupted movement.
Special Focus on Faisal Mosque
Separate traffic and parking plans have been finalized for the iconic Faisal Mosque, where a large number of worshippers are expected during Taraweeh prayers. Dedicated teams will regulate entry and exit points, manage parking areas, and coordinate with mosque administration to streamline traffic.
Parking Management and Public Facilitation
Authorities will actively manage parking outside places of worship and busy commercial zones. Special traffic squads will monitor Ramadan and Sunday bazaars to prevent illegal parking and encroachments that often lead to congestion.
Help desks will also be established at important locations after Iftar to guide citizens and address traffic-related concerns. Senior officers, including the SP Traffic and zonal DSPs, will supervise field operations to ensure strict implementation of the plan.
Crackdown on Violations
In addition to traffic regulation, officials have announced a strict crackdown on one-wheeling, reckless driving, and other traffic violations, particularly after Sehri and Iftar when incidents tend to increase. Personnel have been instructed to maintain professionalism and adopt a courteous attitude while dealing with the public.
Ensuring a Smooth Ramadan Experience
The Islamabad Ramadan traffic plan reflects proactive measures to balance public convenience with road safety. By combining increased deployment, targeted enforcement, and improved coordination with religious and market administrations, authorities aim to minimize congestion and enhance commuter safety throughout the holy month.
Residents are advised to follow traffic guidelines, cooperate with on-duty officers, and plan travel times carefully to avoid peak-hour delays.
