Islamabad’s New Parking Plaza Near Pak Secretariat Promises Relief to Thousands

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched a major infrastructure project aimed at alleviating the chronic parking shortages around Islamabad’s administrative hub, the Pak Secretariat. The New Parking Plaza, currently under construction within the Secretariat premises, is designed to offer much-needed relief to both government employees and public visitors struggling with limited parking in this highly congested area.

The project was recently inspected by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who was updated on the progress by Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza. Spanning approximately 133,729 square feet, the multi-level facility is set to accommodate over 1,000 vehicles simultaneously — a significant boost to the current parking capacity in the zone.

This development is a key part of CDA’s broader urban mobility strategy to improve access, reduce traffic bottlenecks, and enhance the overall commuting experience within Islamabad’s administrative district. The Plaza will serve employees of the Secretariat as well as visitors to neighboring government departments, addressing a long-standing pain point in the city’s daily operations.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized that the New Parking Plaza is not just a standalone project but a model initiative showcasing the authority’s commitment to smarter, more efficient urban planning. “This facility reflects CDA’s dedication to public service by providing practical solutions that enhance quality of life in the capital,” he said during the site visit.

To accelerate construction and minimize disruptions, the CDA has adopted a multi-phase, parallel development approach. Work is being conducted simultaneously across various sections of the site, which will help ensure timely delivery without compromising on quality.

Once completed, the New Parking Plaza will significantly reduce the parking woes that have long affected the Secretariat area, improving accessibility and streamlining vehicle movement in one of Islamabad’s busiest administrative zones.

The project aligns with CDA’s vision for a smarter, more sustainable urban future, tackling traffic congestion and parking scarcity through innovative infrastructure investments. As Islamabad continues to grow, such initiatives are crucial in shaping a more livable and functional capital city.
