Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently visited major ongoing infrastructure projects in Islamabad, including the Jinnah Avenue Interchange flyover and the F-10 roundabout expansion, where significant progress and timelines were revealed.

F-10 Roundabout U-Turn Opening

The much-anticipated F-10 roundabout U-turn is set to open for traffic by the second week of February. This development is part of broader efforts to alleviate congestion and enhance traffic flow at key intersections in the city. The roundabout has been redesigned with fish-belly U-turns on Jinnah Avenue and Nazimuddin Road, promising smoother traffic movement upon completion.

Jinnah Avenue Interchange Progress

The Jinnah Avenue Interchange project, which includes both a flyover and an underpass, is progressing steadily. The underpass is partially complete, and the overall project is expected to be finalized by February 15. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa highlighted ongoing coordination with agencies like NESPAK to ensure timely delivery.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for expedited construction while maintaining high-quality standards. He also instructed officials to focus on the beautification of construction areas, ensuring that the city’s aesthetic appeal is preserved alongside its infrastructure upgrades.

Srinagar Highway & Murree Road Underpasses

Discussions during the visit included plans for underpasses on Srinagar Highway and Murree Road to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion. Minister Naqvi urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to provide a definitive timeline for the foundation stone ceremony of these projects.

The design and cost estimates for the Murree Road underpass are being finalized, with the foundation stone expected to be laid during the inauguration of the Serena Interchange project.

Commitment to Urban Development

Minister Naqvi emphasized the timely completion of all projects, including landscaping and horticulture around the construction sites. The aim is to maintain Islamabad’s reputation for high urban planning standards while enhancing its infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing population.

These developments mark a significant step forward in ensuring smoother traffic flow and modern infrastructure in Pakistan’s capital city.
