Driving without a license in Islamabad is about to carry much harsher consequences. Beginning October 1, 2025, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will implement a strict crackdown on unlicensed drivers in Islamabad, aiming to strengthen road safety and reduce unlawful driving practices.

Under this new enforcement drive, any motorist caught operating a vehicle without a valid license will face immediate arrest. In addition, their vehicle will be seized on the spot. Authorities have also confirmed that violators will be denied character certificates until they obtain the required driving license.

Why the Crackdown?

Officials from the ITP highlighted that unlicensed driving has become a growing concern in the capital. Such practices not only endanger the driver but also pose significant risks to other road users. By enforcing stricter measures, the police aim to improve road discipline, reduce accidents, and encourage responsible driving behavior.

How the Enforcement Will Work?

The crackdown will cover all sectors of Islamabad, with police teams conducting special operations to identify violators. Unlike previous drives, this campaign will have zero tolerance for excuses, meaning every driver must carry a valid license at all times.

Advice for Residents

Residents of Islamabad are urged to obtain and carry their licenses before October 1 to avoid legal complications. Officials have clearly stated that no exceptions will be granted once the enforcement begins.

With this initiative, Islamabad is taking a firm step towards ensuring safer roads, stricter compliance, and a more disciplined traffic system.
