International Driving License Made Easy for Sindh Residents: 11 Branches and Online Service Launched

Residents of Sindh can now conveniently obtain international driving licenses from any of the 11 driving license branches across the province, a service that was previously available only at the Clifton branch in Karachi. This expansion, which began on September 14, 2024, offers accessibility not only in Karachi but also in major divisional cities such as Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, and Larkana.

In a recent announcement, DIG for Training and Licensing, Iqbal Dara, revealed that the service now includes an online application process, allowing residents to apply for international driving licenses from the comfort of their homes. The convenience of this new service is expected to benefit residents across Sindh who already hold a valid driving license.

Smooth Transition to Online and Offline Accessibility

The launch of the online service marks a significant improvement in the ease of accessing international driving licenses. Applicants no longer need to visit a physical branch, as the entire process can be completed digitally. Once the application is processed, the license is delivered to the applicant’s doorstep via TCS courier service.

This step is part of Sindh’s broader initiative to modernize public services and make them more accessible. The online service also includes an online payment system, where applicants can pay the Rs1,088 fee for their permits with ease. Despite the new online option, only two applicants have used this method so far, but the number is expected to rise as more residents become aware of its convenience.

High Demand for International Driving Permits

As of the latest report, 693 international driving permits have been issued since the service expansion. The Clifton branch leads in the number of permits issued, followed by the Nazimabad branch with 104, and Hyderabad with 52. Other branches, including Korangi, Malir, and Saeedabad, have issued fewer permits but remain accessible for those seeking the service.

The demand for international driving licenses continues to grow as more residents of Sindh seek the ability to drive abroad for work or travel. With the ease of both in-person and online options now available, obtaining an international driving permit is simpler than ever before.
