Indus Motor Company (IMC) has been recognized for its exceptional contributions to environmental sustainability and safety at the 10th International Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Summit and Awards 2024. The Professionals Network (TPN) honoured IMC with multiple awards across various categories, reaffirming the company’s unwavering commitment to the Global Goals.

The awards were presented by Mr. Anjum Nisar, Senior Vice President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, to Mr. Asad Abdullah, Head of Corporate Communications & CSR at IMC. A total of 89 companies competed in 23 award categories, with 63 companies winning a total of 78 awards. IMC stood out as one of the five companies that won multiple trophies, leading in categories such as “Plant Integrity,” “Transport Safety,” and “Emissions Control Technologies.”

IMC’s Chief Executive, Ali Asghar Jamali, expressed his pride in the company’s achievements, stating, “This is a great way to start the new financial year, and what better platform to exhibit our efforts than The Professionals Network. For us at Toyota, safety takes precedence over everything else, be it at the factory, on the roads, or advocating for a safer environment. This safety culture is not just limited to us but also extends to our complete value chain, including suppliers and dealers. Additionally, under our social responsibility program, Concern Beyond Cars, we rolled out the Toyota 5S Program in 2021 to benefit a wider audience beyond the realm of IMC.”

IMC’s dedication to environmental sustainability is evident through its ongoing initiatives. Earlier this year, the company introduced the first locally manufactured hybrid electric vehicle in Pakistan, the Corolla Cross, which boasts the highest-ever localized content. This initiative is part of the broader Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, under which IMC remains committed to reducing its carbon footprint. The company has implemented several key projects, including the installation of water treatment plants, solid waste treatment and disposal management systems, and a 6.6MW solar photovoltaic plant—the largest of its kind in Pakistan by an automobile company.

IMC’s holistic approach to sustainability and safety underscores its belief that every small initiative has the potential to create a ripple effect, making a lasting impact on society. As IMC continues to lead the way in environmental and safety practices, the recognition at the EHS Summit is a testament to its dedication to a safer and more sustainable future.
