HUBCO Green Launches First EV Charging Station at Ocean Mall, Karachi

HUBCO Green (Private) Limited (HGL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hub Power Holdings Limited (HPHL), has officially inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station at Ocean Mall, Karachi. This milestone marks the company’s initial step toward establishing Pakistan’s largest EV charging network. With plans to expand across motorways, highways, major cities, and destination charging points like upscale malls and commercial hubs, HUBCO Green is set to revolutionize the EV landscape in the country.

Driving EV Adoption in Pakistan

The global automotive industry is rapidly transitioning to New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs), and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). In Pakistan, the NEV market is still in its early stages, but the government’s draft National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) has set ambitious targets. By 2030, the NEVP aims for electric vehicles to make up 30% of new sales for passenger vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, increasing to 90% by 2040.

Recognizing the need for robust EV infrastructure, HUBCO Green’s initiatives are designed to address key barriers such as range anxiety, limited charging infrastructure, and high fossil fuel reliance.
