Sazgar Launches Locally Assembled GWM Tank 500 HEV and PHEV

Sazgar officially launches the locally assembled GWM Tank 500 HEV today, replacing the previously imported model in Pakistan. The company also introduces a new Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) trim, offering buyers more options in the SUV segment.

Background

Sazgar first introduced the Tank 500 HEV in February 2024 as a flagship full-size SUV. The imported model offered a competitive package but had high duties and taxes. As a result, the price reached Rs. 4.5 crore, making it a premium choice for local buyers.

To make the SUV more affordable, Sazgar decided to assemble the Tank 500 locally. This transition was first reported in November 2025, and today the company confirms it with the launch of the locally assembled Tank 500 HEV and the new PHEV variant.

Price Expectations

The official price is yet to be announced. However, sources indicate the locally assembled model will cost much less than the imported version. This reduction is expected to attract more buyers and strengthen the Tank 500’s position in the Pakistani SUV market.

Launch Event Details

Sazgar will reveal the official launch and pricing at 5:30 PM today. PakWheels will provide exclusive coverage of the event. Interested buyers will also learn about booking details during the live launch.
