Pakistan’s Only GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition

Electric vehicles are slowly making their way onto Pakistani roads, but some stand out for their rarity and presence. Among them is the 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUV – Edition One, Pakistan’s only unit of this futuristic all-electric SUV owned by Mr. Nauman. This exclusive model represents the highest trim level with greater horsepower, upgraded components, and luxurious features compared to other variants.

Nauman chose the SUV over the pickup because he prefers a more aggressive and composed look. He likes to cruise at moderate speeds rather than extreme off-roading, making the SUV a perfect fit for his driving style. Before purchasing the Hummer EV, his garage included a Toyota Fortuner and a BMW i8, reflecting his taste for vehicles with presence and exclusivity.

He says he wanted a head-turner, not an “ordinary” car that blends into traffic. A viral video of the Hummer EV beating a Lamborghini in a drag race further sealed his decision. With its massive size, futuristic styling, and insane performance, the Hummer EV SUV delivered exactly what he was looking for.

What Makes the Hummer EV SUV Unique

Performance is a highlight. Despite its size, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. Its Crab Walk Mode, where the rear wheels turn with the front wheels to move diagonally, always draws crowds. Advanced features such as a 360° camera, blind spot monitors, Bose sound system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated seats, and removable T-Top roof panels make it both high-tech and comfortable.

On the technical side, it carries a battery capacity of about 220 kWh usable (268 kWh gross) with a claimed range of 530 km. Using a 7 kW home charger, it takes around 35–38 hours for a full charge. DC fast charging is possible but still rare in Pakistan, so Nauman had to arrange adapters and even charge at friends’ homes until his own setup was installed.

Import cost for this Hummer EV SUV Edition One was around 65–70 million PKR. Registration varies by region, from just a few thousand rupees in Sindh to as high as 50–60 lakh PKR in Islamabad. Despite government incentives, he received little relief because of the vehicle’s size.

Inside, the rear seats comfortably seat four adults, and Nauman has quickly adapted to left-hand drive. Safety features and cameras make maneuvering manageable even on busy Pakistani roads. He briefly considered a Tesla Cybertruck but delays in its launch and the Hummer’s bolder design led him to this purchase instead.

For Nauman, the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition One is not just a vehicle but a lifestyle statement. It offers unmatched road presence, futuristic features, and supercar-level performance. Although the lack of EV infrastructure and high costs make it impractical for most buyers. In his words, “A car should be a head-turner. If nobody notices it on the road, you might as well drive a Civic or Alto.”
