Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) market is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the momentum continues as Capital Smart Motors (CSM) officially partners with Geely, one of China’s largest automotive groups. The announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies, signaling the introduction of Geely’s premium New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brandsZeekr, Riddara, and Farizon — into the Pakistani market.

This strategic partnership marks a major milestone in the country’s transition toward sustainable mobility, aligning with the federal government’s NEV policy introduced in 2024. The policy provides generous incentives for EV adoption, supporting both passenger and commercial vehicles while focusing on reducing environmental impact and developing infrastructure.

Government Backing Fuels EV Sector Growth

To further accelerate EV adoption, the government implemented a historic 44% reduction in electricity tariffs for EV charging stations in January 2025 — slashing rates from Rs. 71 to Rs. 39.70 per unit. Regulations for charging infrastructure and battery swapping stations were also introduced under NEECA (National Energy Conservation Authority), paving the way for more private investments in the EV sector.

What Geely Brings to Pakistan Through CSM?

According to the official press release from CSM — a new venture under the well-established Habib Rafiq Limited (HRL) group — the following Geely NEV brands will be introduced:

  • Geely Zeekr: A premium global EV brand offering cutting-edge smart mobility solutions.
  • Geely Riddara: A leading electric pickup truck built on an SUV platform, ideal for utility and lifestyle users.
  • Geely Farizon: A global name in commercial EVs, including buses, light trucks, and heavy-duty freight vehicles.

While no specific launch date has been confirmed, sources close to the company indicate vehicle sales will commence within the next few months.

A Transformative Step for Pakistan’s EV Landscape

This partnership between CSM and Geely is poised to revolutionize smart and sustainable transportation in Pakistan. Backed by HRL’s infrastructure expertise and the government’s supportive EV policies, the introduction of these brands could offer Pakistani consumers access to world-class electric mobility.

As the nation takes decisive steps toward greener, tech-enabled mobility, the Geely-CSM collaboration represents both commercial potential and environmental progress.
