In a proactive step toward a cleaner and healthier Punjab, the provincial government has officially extended the free vehicle emissions testing deadline to August 31, 2025. This decision, announced by the Environment Protection Department (EPA), reinforces the province’s commitment to tackling air pollution and promoting environmentally responsible vehicle use.

Why This Matters?

Urban centers like Lahore continue to suffer from alarming air quality issues, with vehicular emissions being a primary contributor. From respiratory ailments to reduced visibility during smog seasons, pollution has far-reaching effects. The emissions testing initiative empowers citizens to be part of the solution—at no cost.

Exempted Vehicles: Who Doesn’t Need Testing?

To streamline the process, the EPA has outlined exemptions:

  • All vehicles manufactured in 2022 or later
  • Any vehicle up to 3 years old from its manufacturing date

These vehicles are not required to undergo emissions testing and do not need a QR sticker. The rule is effective immediately.

ETS Booth Timings & Operation Days

To maximize accessibility, Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths operate:

  • Days: Monday to Saturday
  • Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Break: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (Lunch/Prayer)

ETS Booth Locations in Lahore

The EPA has set up 20 emissions testing booths across Lahore in both residential and commercial hubs:

  1. Manwa Police Training Center, Wahga Town
  2. Ali Park (Minar-e-Pakistan, behind Lahore Fort)
  3. CBD – Kalma Chowk
  4. Emporium Mall
  5. Liberty Market
  6. Al Kabir Town (Downtown)
  7. Bahria Town
