Motorcycle owners in Punjab will soon have to meet the same legal standard as car drivers. The Punjab government has officially made a fitness certificate mandatory for motorcycles, following the same rules already in place for private vehicles.

The new law, approved by the Punjab Cabinet, aims to improve road safety and reduce pollution across the province. According to the Transport Department, motorcycles will now undergo a technical inspection before being granted a fitness certificate. Once approved, each certificate will be valid for one year.

Fitness Certificate for Motorcycles to Be Enforced Soon

The Transport Department is currently working on a plan to ensure the smooth implementation of the new rule. It is expected that designated inspection stations will be equipped to handle the volume of bikes, which are the most commonly used mode of transport in Punjab.

This step is part of a wider initiative to bring order to the roads. At the same time, the government is cracking down on public vehicles running on LPG. Special enforcement squads have been set up to carry out inspections at major bus terminals across the province.

With the introduction of the fitness certificate for motorcycles. The authorities hope to promote better maintenance of two-wheelers and enhance overall road safety. Although some citizens have raised concerns about the potential hassle, officials say it is a necessary step to modernize the transport system.

The new requirement is expected to roll out soon, and all motorcycle owners will need to comply to continue using their vehicles legally on the road.
