Faisalabad has taken a major step forward in combating environmental pollution and fuel adulteration by launching its first-ever mobile fuel testing laboratory, introduced under the Punjab government’s Pollution-Free Division initiative. The state-of-the-art mobile lab aims to strengthen fuel quality monitoring, improve consumer safety, and reduce harmful vehicular emissions contributing to smog.
The mobile testing unit was officially inspected by Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar, who reviewed its testing tools, sampling process, and reporting mechanism. On its first operational day, the lab conducted fuel testing at six petrol stations, enabling immediate detection of adulterated or low-grade fuel. Authorities confirmed that over 1,000 petrol pumps across the Faisalabad division will be gradually inspected using this mobile facility.
Commissioner Anwar emphasized that this specialized mobile fuel laboratory has been allocated exclusively for Faisalabad, showcasing the government’s focused approach toward industrial and densely populated regions. The system also features advanced detection technology to verify whether the fuel being sold is locally sourced or smuggled, ensuring improved market compliance and transparency.
He stated that vehicular emissions driven by poor-quality fuel are a leading cause of urban smog, affecting both public health and economic productivity. Strengthening fuel quality checks is now a core element of Punjab’s broader pollution-control strategy, alongside dust-reduction and vehicle-emission audits.
Despite millions of vehicles operating in Punjab, fuel testing facilities were previously unavailable. The provincial government has now established three fully equipped fuel testing laboratories in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, as well as three mobile fuel labs for field-level inspections.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s latest vehicle emission testing program, equipped with 100 digital analysers and 22 permanent stations in Lahore, has already tested more than 260,000 vehicles this year, marking a historic advancement in environmental compliance.
The launch of Faisalabad’s mobile lab is expected to significantly reduce fuel adulteration, environmental hazards, smog intensity, fuel smuggling, and respiratory diseases, helping the province move toward cleaner energy and safer mobility standards.
