Elkhorn and Walerga Crash Injures Several in North Highlands

A multi-vehicle crash disrupted traffic and left several people injured at the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and Walerga Road in North Highlands on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The collision occurred around 2:59 p.m., drawing a swift response from local law enforcement, emergency medical teams, and fire crews.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department closed the intersection for emergency operations. Paramedics treated the injured on site and transported at least one person to a nearby hospital. Officials have not released details about the injuries yet.

Elkhorn and Walerga Crash Under Active Investigation

Witnesses reported seeing multiple vehicles with heavy damage, deployed airbags, and debris scattered across the roadway. Preliminary information suggests that traffic congestion and a possible failure to yield may have played a role in the crash.

All drivers involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. The sheriff’s department is reviewing the case and will confirm the number of vehicles and any citations issued.

Authorities shut down the busy intersection and later reopened it the same day. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the exact cause and any contributing factors.
