27 Electric Buses Hit Lahore Streets

In a groundbreaking move to combat pollution and reduce operational costs, the Punjab government has introduced a pilot project featuring 27 state-of-the-art electric buses in Lahore. With a substantial initial investment of Rs2.4 billion, these eco-friendly buses promise a sustainable and efficient public transport solution. The electric buses are set to operate along a 21-kilometer route, connecting Green Town to Lahore Railway Station. Starting February 16, the project is expected to serve an estimated 17,000 commuters daily. The buses, imported from China, are equipped with modern amenities, including GPS, free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, security cameras, and ramps to cater to individuals with special needs. To ensure a secure and comfortable journey for women, the buses also feature dedicated women-only compartments.
