Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the opening of a new 1km bridge designed to enhance traffic flow between Hessa Street and Al Khail Road. The bridge, which became operational on Sunday, is a significant addition to the city’s infrastructure, aiming to drastically reduce travel times and improve connectivity across key areas.

Transforming Travel Times

The two-lane bridge has already proven to be a game-changer for commuters, cutting travel time from 15 minutes to just three minutes. By streamlining access between Hessa Street and Al Khail Road, the bridge improves connectivity to the city center and Dubai International Airport, two crucial hubs for residents, business professionals, and travelers alike.

Part of the Dh689 Million Hessa Street Development Project

The bridge is a milestone in the larger Dh689 million Hessa Street development project, which focuses on upgrading the area’s transportation network. This project includes improvements to four major intersections, which are set to enhance traffic flow further and reduce congestion.

The RTA reported that 54% of the project has been completed, with the remaining intersections scheduled to become fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Benefits for Residents and Travelers

The bridge’s opening marks a significant improvement in the commuting experience for residents and travelers. Key benefits include:

  • Reduced congestion: The new infrastructure alleviates traffic bottlenecks along Hessa Street and Al Khail Road.
  • Enhanced connectivity: Faster and more efficient routes to major destinations such as the city center and Dubai International Airport.
  • Improved safety: Streamlined traffic flow reduces the risk of accidents caused by congestion.

A Vision for the Future

The Hessa Street development project is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to innovation and infrastructure. By investing in state-of-the-art transportation systems, the city continues to reinforce its position as a global leader in urban planning and mobility solutions.

As the RTA works toward completing the project by late 2025, residents and visitors can look forward to a more efficient and enjoyable commuting experience, underlining Dubai’s dedication to sustainable and accessible urban development.

This new bridge is just one example of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for its residents and solidify its reputation as a city built for the future.
