By Dubai continues to lead the global race in smart urban transformation, announcing significant progress across 72 major infrastructure and transport projects set for completion by the end of 2027. These projects—covering roads, bridges, tunnels, and integrated corridors—aim to establish Dubai as a global benchmark for innovation, sustainability, and seamless mobility.
The progress review was chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The meeting also included Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
“Dubai’s investment in advanced infrastructure — from Metro expansion to pedestrian-friendly corridors — reflects our vision for connectivity, sustainability, and smart mobility,” said Sheikh Hamdan.
Key Features of Dubai’s 2027 Infrastructure Plan
The RTA’s integrated infrastructure strategy focuses on enhancing mobility, reducing congestion, and supporting Dubai’s long-term economic and environmental goals. The plan includes:
- 226 km of new roads across strategic locations in the city.
- 115 bridges and tunnels designed to ensure smooth and efficient traffic flow.
- 11 main transport corridors to strengthen connectivity across urban and suburban zones.
These developments align with Dubai’s Smart Mobility Framework, which seeks to make 25% of all journeys autonomous by 2030.
Innovative Mobility: The Aerial Taxi Project
Among the most ambitious initiatives is the Aerial Taxi Project, which will introduce fully electric eVTOL aircraft capable of covering 160 km at speeds up to 320 km/h. The first vertiport—a 3,100 m² hub near Dubai International Airport (DXB)—is already under construction.
This project positions Dubai as one of the first cities in the world to deploy electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and futuristic transport systems.
Enhancing Walkability: The Future Loop Network
The Future Loop pedestrian network aims to make Dubai one of the world’s most walkable cities by improving accessibility and safety for pedestrians year-round. The plan features:
- 3,300 km of new walkways
- 2,300 km of rehabilitated routes
- 110 pedestrian bridges and tunnels
This initiative complements the city’s goal of promoting sustainable, human-centered mobility while reducing car dependency.
