Designed with the company’s advanced Mach Electric Hybrid system, the Aeolus L8 delivers exceptional performance, remarkable efficiency, and cutting-edge smart features.
Powerful Hybrid Performance
At its core, the Aeolus L8 combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor and a 30.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, resulting in an impressive 355 horsepower output. This balance of combustion and electric power ensures both speed and efficiency, making it competitive in the global plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market.
Record-Breaking Driving Range
In independent testing conducted by the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), the Aeolus L8 achieved an all-electric range of 248 kilometers and an outstanding total driving range of 2,245 kilometers. These results place it among the longest-range plug-in hybrids in the world, surpassing many rivals in endurance.
Official CLTC standards list two EV-only range options: 126 km and 185 km, depending on the configuration chosen. Fuel efficiency is equally notable, with CATARC reporting an average of 41.66 km per liter.
Fast Charging & Smart Features
The Aeolus L8 supports 3C fast charging, enabling the battery to recharge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes under optimal conditions. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with a digital cockpit, AI-powered voice assistant (using DeepSeek and ByteDance’s Doubao models), and a digital rearview mirror for enhanced driving comfort.
Advanced Safety and ADAS
Safety remains a priority with six airbags and 28 Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) functions, including:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane keeping assist

Global Market Expansion
Dongfeng has confirmed plans to launch the Aeolus L8 in international markets, with the Middle East and South America among the first regions to receive the vehicle. Originally introduced under the Fengshen brand in 2009, the Aeolus division has grown to offer consumer-focused sedans and SUVs, now stepping into the global stage with this flagship PHEV.
