Dewan Farooque Motors Limited (PSX: DFML) has successfully crossed a major milestone in its journey to revive automotive manufacturing in Pakistan. In its latest filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company announced that it has assembled and handed over more than 300 units of its electric vehicle (EV) model, the Honri-VE, to Eco-Green Motors Limited for final delivery to customers nationwide.

This delivery marks a significant step forward for DFML since it resumed manufacturing operations, underscoring its commitment to support the growing electric mobility sector in Pakistan. The company had earlier disclosed, in its notice dated October 11, 2024, that it had entered into toll manufacturing arrangements with Eco-Green Motors — a collaboration aimed at streamlining the production and supply of electric vehicles under the Honri-VE nameplate.

Honri-VE: A New Chapter for Pakistan’s EV Market

The Honri-VE, marketed through Eco-Green Motors Limited, is part of Pakistan’s gradual shift towards greener transportation options. By assembling these EV units locally, Dewan Farooque Motors is not only reviving its own operations but also contributing to the national goal of reducing dependency on fossil fuels and lowering the carbon footprint of the country’s transport sector.

With fuel prices continuing to surge and global interest in sustainable alternatives growing, the Honri-VE offers Pakistani consumers an affordable entry point into electric mobility. Industry analysts believe this delivery milestone could help build confidence among local buyers, while encouraging more players to invest in Pakistan’s underdeveloped EV market.

Company’s Core Operations and Future Plans

Dewan Farooque Motors has a long-standing presence in Pakistan’s automotive sector. Its principal activities include the assembly, progressive manufacturing, and sale of vehicles across various categories. The company’s recent focus on electric vehicles signals a strategic pivot in line with global trends and local policy incentives for alternative energy vehicles.

By leveraging toll manufacturing with Eco-Green Motors, DFML has found a cost-effective way to bring new EV models to market without the heavy capital burden of setting up an entirely new production line for electric platforms. The success of the Honri-VE rollout is expected to pave the way for future projects and potentially more local jobs in Pakistan’s automotive supply chain.

Final Thoughts

As Pakistan’s auto industry navigates economic challenges, fluctuating demand, and the need for greener solutions, Dewan Farooque Motors’ achievement demonstrates the sector’s resilience and adaptability. For customers looking to adopt environmentally friendly vehicles, the Honri-VE represents an accessible option backed by local assembly and a growing support network through Eco-Green Motors.
