As the Eid-ul-Adha holidays approach, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has announced a detailed traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety throughout the festive period. The initiative, led by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima, reflects the department’s proactive efforts to facilitate citizens during one of the busiest times of the year.
According to the official plan, more than 645 traffic officers and personnel will be deployed across Rawalpindi. Their duties will include managing intersections, controlling traffic congestion, and responding to emergencies. A special focus has been placed on public parks, with 49 officers assigned specifically for managing footfall and vehicle flow in high-traffic recreational areas.
In addition to traffic regulation, safety enforcement will be a top priority. The CTP has constituted five special squads to monitor and crack down on one-wheeling and car skating, activities known to surge during public holidays. To further reinforce these efforts, ten anti-one-wheeling pickets will be strategically established throughout the city.
The traffic plan also includes a security component. Twelve DSPs and 72 other personnel will oversee special security arrangements, particularly around mosques during Eid prayers, where large congregations are expected. To ensure maximum public safety, vehicles with tinted windows or without number plates will face strict penalties.
CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized the department’s commitment:
“Our personnel will remain on duty even on the day of Eid to ensure that the public can celebrate without facing transport issues.”
Citizens are advised to follow all traffic regulations and cooperate with on-duty officers to make Eid-ul-Adha safe and enjoyable for everyone.
