The Punjab government has officially announced the launch of the CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025, a landmark initiative designed to modernize urban public transport while empowering unemployed youth, women, and marginalized communities across the province.

The new CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025 is part of the Chief Minister’s wider plan to build a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally sustainable Punjab. The program will distribute 1,100 electric taxis (E-Taxis) in its first phase, offering a practical solution for daily transport needs while generating income opportunities for thousands of citizens.

The Punjab government has launched registration for its E-Taxi initiative in Lahore, inviting manufacturers and dealers to submit electric vehicles for taxi use. With financing support and eco-friendly goals, the project aligns with the province's Green and Clean Transport policy.

Key Features of the CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025

✔ Interest-Free Installment Plans for Youth and Women

One of the most attractive aspects of the CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025 is its interest-free installment plan, designed specifically to help unemployed youth, women, people with disabilities, and residents of underserved areas own and operate an electric taxi without financial burden.

✔ Locally Manufactured Electric Taxis

The electric taxis — Honri VC20 and Honri VC30 — are being sourced through a local partnership with Dewan Motors. These vehicles provide a reliable driving range of 200 km to 300 km per charge, ensuring they meet the daily needs of urban commuters in cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

✔ Zero Emissions and Quieter Roads

As fully electric vehicles, these E-Taxis produce zero direct emissions and operate more quietly than traditional combustion-engine vehicles. This is expected to help reduce air and noise pollution in Punjab’s urban centers, supporting the province’s shift towards sustainable mobility.

✔ Robust EV Charging Network

A strong EV charging infrastructure is a core component of the CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025. In Lahore, electric vehicle charging stations will be installed every three kilometers, with further expansion planned throughout Punjab. This ensures that E-Taxi drivers have convenient access to charging points at all times.

Inclusive, Accessible, and High in Demand

Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has highlighted that the application process for the CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025 will be straightforward and accessible to all eligible applicants. The initiative focuses on providing equal opportunities to:

  • Young job seekers looking for self-employment
  • Women in both urban and rural communities
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Residents of underserved and remote areas

Even before its official public rollout, the program has already received over 60,000 applications, proving the massive demand for affordable, eco-friendly transport solutions and sustainable livelihoods in Punjab.

Future of Sustainable Transport in Punjab

The CM Punjab Green E-Taxi Program 2025 demonstrates the Punjab government’s commitment to cleaner public transport, youth employment, and gender inclusion. By combining green energy with local economic empowerment, the initiative sets a strong precedent for how provinces in Pakistan can tackle unemployment and climate challenges together.

As the program expands, it is expected to inspire similar green transport initiatives nationwide, helping Pakistan move closer to a sustainable, low-emission future.
