By The Punjab government has officially announced the dates for the 20th International Cholistan Desert Rally, confirming that the region’s most anticipated motorsport and cultural event will take place from February 4 to February 8, 2026. The update was shared during a high-level planning meeting chaired by Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen, where arrangements, logistics, and tourism development strategies were discussed in detail.
The meeting saw participation from key officials through video link, including the Managing Director and General Manager of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Farhan Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhon, district police officers, Additional Commissioner Coordination Nayar Mustafa, and 4×4 Club President Mahmood Majeed. Their involvement highlights the collaborative nature of preparations required for a large-scale international rally.
Promoting Culture, Tourism, and Heritage
Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen emphasized that the rally is not only a competitive motorsport event but also a major tourism showcase, promoting Bahawalpur’s culture, heritage, and desert landscape to international audiences. She confirmed that cultural festivals will be organized simultaneously across Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan, creating a vibrant environment that blends adventure sports with regional traditions.
Preparations and Event Logistics
During the session, the commissioner directed authorities to:
- Finalize arrangements for international racing teams and guests
- Complete the security and emergency response plan
- Coordinate cultural programming and sports activities
- Ensure timely repair and rehabilitation of rally tracks and connecting roads
These measures are aimed at ensuring smooth execution, safety, and world-class hospitality for visitors and participants.
