Punjab Government Launches Chief Minister’s Youth Program: 20,000 Motorbikes for Students on Easy Installments

In a landmark initiative to empower young people and boost access to education, the Punjab government has launched the Chief Minister’s Youth Program, offering 20,000 motorbikes to college and university students across the province. This ambitious scheme includes 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 electric bikes, all distributed through interest-free installment plans.

To make the program accessible to students from all backgrounds, the Punjab government has allocated a Rs 1 billion subsidy to cover down payments and markup costs. The distribution is being carried out in partnership with the Bank of Punjab, which will handle the financing and registration process.

Eligibility Criteria and Payment Plans

To qualify, students must meet specific requirements:

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be enrolled in a Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized college or university
  • Hold a valid driving license or learner’s permit

The monthly payment plans have been structured to ensure affordability:

  • Petrol Bike – Male Students: Rs 11,676 per month
  • Petrol Bike – Female Students: Rs 7,325 per month
  • Electric Bike: Estimated below Rs 10,000 per month

Applications that exceed the available quota will be processed through an e-balloting system to ensure fairness and transparency. Notably, 50% of the motorbikes have been reserved for female students, reinforcing the government’s commitment to women’s mobility and empowerment.

The distribution will initially begin in Punjab’s major urban centers, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur. The response so far has been overwhelming — the Punjab Transport Department confirmed that over 72,000 applications have already been received.

The deadline for students to apply for the Chief Minister’s Youth Program is July 20, 2025. Eligible students can submit applications via the official Punjab government portal or by visiting designated Bank of Punjab branches.

A Vision for Youth Empowerment

Speaking about the initiative, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that the program is designed to improve student mobility, reduce transportation barriers, and promote equal access to education. She highlighted that providing inclusive transport solutions, especially for young women, is vital for building an educated and economically active generation.

The launch of this motorbike scheme marks another milestone in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to invest in its youth and create opportunities for social and economic upliftment.
