Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is preparing to introduce two new electric SUVs in Pakistan, strengthening its position in the country’s rapidly growing EV segment. The upcoming models, the BYD Atto 2 and BYD Sealion 7, are expected to arrive before the end of January, offering buyers more choices across different price and size categories.
With rising fuel costs and increasing interest in electric mobility, BYD’s latest move is likely to attract strong attention from Pakistani consumers looking for efficient and future-ready vehicles.
BYD Atto 2: Compact Electric SUV with Practical Range
The BYD Atto 2, sold as the Yuan Up in China, is a subcompact electric SUV positioned below the popular Atto 3. Launched internationally in March 2024, the model later entered Australia in November 2025 and is also known as the Yuan Pro or S1 Pro in select markets.
Built on BYD’s e Platform 3.0, the Atto 2 features Blade Battery technology, which is known for improved safety and longevity. The SUV is offered with two battery options:
- 32 kWh battery with an estimated 301 km CLTC range
- 45.1 kWh battery with an estimated 401 km CLTC range
Power output varies by variant, with the base version producing 94 horsepower, while higher trims deliver up to 174 horsepower. The more powerful variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 7.9 seconds. Thanks to DC fast charging support, the Atto 2 can charge from 30% to 80% in around 28 minutes, making it ideal for city driving and daily commuting.
BYD Sealion 7: Midsize Electric SUV with High Performance
Positioned above the Atto 3, the BYD Sealion 7 is a midsize electric SUV designed to compete with global rivals such as the Tesla Model Y. Production began in May 2024, with international launches following in Europe and Hong Kong later that year.
Depending on the market, the Sealion 7 uses either the e Platform 3.0 Evo with an 800-volt system or the standard 400-volt e Platform 3.0. Battery capacities range from 71.8 kWh to 82.5 kWh and up to 91.3 kWh, all utilizing Blade Battery technology.
Rear-wheel-drive variants produce 228 hp or 308 hp, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version delivers an impressive 523 horsepower. The performance variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds. With DC fast charging up to 230 kW, the Sealion 7 can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes.
Pakistan Launch Expectations
BYD has not yet announced official prices or variant details for Pakistan. However, confirmation of the Atto 2 and Sealion 7’s arrival before the end of January highlights BYD’s serious commitment to Pakistan’s electric vehicle market.
As EV infrastructure continues to improve across the country, these upcoming launches could play a significant role in accelerating electric vehicle adoption and shaping the future of mobility in Pakistan.
