In an exciting step toward modernizing public transportation, the Government of Balochistan has announced the deployment of 21 brand-new pink and green buses across Quetta and Turbat. This project aims to make commuting safer, especially for women, and more accessible for the general public.

Expanding Safe and Reliable Public Transport

According to the Balochistan Transport Department, the new fleet consists of twelve green and five pink buses for Quetta, while Turbat will receive four green buses. The pink buses are exclusively reserved for women passengers, highlighting the provincial government’s commitment to improving safe travel options for women in urban areas.

The green buses, meanwhile, will serve all citizens, providing much-needed relief for daily commuters struggling with limited public transport options.

New Routes to Improve Citywide Connectivity

The project doesn’t stop with just new buses; it also includes an expansion of public transport routes in Quetta. Officials confirmed that a major new route will cover approximately 32 kilometers, stretching from the Assistant Commissioner’s office in Kuchlak to Mianghundi in Saryab.

This strategic expansion aims to connect more neighborhoods, ease traffic congestion, and significantly reduce travel times for the residents of Quetta.

A Vision for Inclusive and Modern Urban Mobility

The introduction of these pink and green buses marks a major shift toward inclusive and modern urban transportation in Balochistan. By investing in gender-sensitive and efficient public transport, the government is addressing long-standing mobility issues and promoting greater economic participation, especially for women.

Residents of Quetta and Turbat are eagerly awaiting the launch, which is expected to take place within the next two months. Once operational, these buses will not only improve daily commuting but also contribute to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable cities.
